Apocalypse (Sold)

“Apocalypse” is named after the song by Cigarettes After Sex. I was originally inspired by a visit to the spa to paint a woman with white cherry blossoms in her hair. But as I painted them, it didn’t feel right and I painted over the cherry blossoms with a textured abstract layer. Painting this piece was challenging as a friend passed away shortly after I started working on it. I took a break for a while to grieve and then eventually picked up a paintbrush again to create this painting.
